Perhaps it’s being surrounded with this Rat Pack atmosphere during Modernism Week here in Palm Springs that has me a bit obsessed with cocktails. We’ve been enjoying some throwback cocktails during our tour and I’d love to make them at home but I really have no idea where to start. I was so thrilled to spot that Okanagan Spirits is offering a series called Bartending 101 and on March 1st they will be hosting a Sparkling Cocktail class. Working in partnership with Summerhill Pyramid Winery this class will share 3 sparkling cocktails, light appetizers and of course the ‘how-to’ behind the drinks.
Mixologist Harry Dosanj of the Poppadoms family is also launching a series of cocktail classes he’s called Sunday School starting March 25th at Habitat. His first class is Gin inspired cocktails. His classes are an intimate 10 guests, where you learn about the products, the history of the cocktails, make them, drink them and take home the recipes. Bar snacks are provided by Poppadoms of course!
Amuse (formerly known as Devour) is coming up next Saturday, March 3rd. It’s a sold out event described by organizer Holly Dober as a ‘culinary showcase for social foodies’. The who’s who of restaurants will be attendance and paired with wineries, distilleries, breweries and cideries giving guests the opportunity to sample some of the best of the valley.
Some don’t miss booths:
Terrafina at Hester Creek by RauDZ is bringing their portable pizza oven and will be serving up the Truffled Potato and Octopus Pizza paired with Hester Creek 2016 Trebbiano
The Table at Codfathers Market will be featuring Lobster and Prawn Cannoli with Nighthawk Vineyards Chardonnay (delicious!)
Relvas Catering who is making their first appearance at Amuse has a portuguese inspired chorizo on top of a homemade chickpea cracker served with Quinta Ferriera Merlot.
And Sunny’s – a modern diner that has not even opened their doors yet will be there with a Smoked Pork Jowl & Cheesy Donut with tomato jam paired with Simp’s Dill Pickle Caesar.
If you don’t yet have tickets, the organizers have a Wait List so click this link to get on the list and keep your fingers and toes crossed they can squeeze you in!
